DJ Mark Wee

Marko Vajagić

Mark Wee was one of the DJs who started techno in Belgrade. Late in 1992 he began playing with DJ Eye at Buha, the small underground club in the Boško Buha children's theatre on Trg Republike. When Buha closed he moved to Akademija, where for about ten months he and DJ 245/1 held techno nights, slowly steering the crowd from rave anthems toward Beltram, CJ Bolland, Hardfloor and Orbital. On 5 April 1994 he and DJ S.T.R.O.B. played their first night together, "Trance Europe Express".

He went on to play Sundays at Industria, first with United DJs of Trance and then with Integra Productions, which he headed. His sound ran from hard house to funky minimal techno and acid trance. On Yu Radio 100.4 FM he hosted Overdose and then, with S.T.R.O.B. and later Eye, Generator, one of the first techno shows in Yugoslavia. He played Enlitement, Teknosys, Rave the City and The Prodigy concert, and wrote the history of the Belgrade techno scene on this site.
